Project Description:

Derita is a 64,927 sf office building that has (3) floors of rentable space, a roof deck amenity space; an exterior courtyard; and parking at the ground level that extends out to a larger exterior parking lot for the tenants. Nature was the key inspiration and starting point for the entire project; as both our firm and the client wanted to create a building that merged natural elements with the built environment. The design started with a central exterior courtyard, with a “u” shaped building enclosing it to create a private exterior space for the users. The shape of the building also allows for optimal views of the courtyard from the interior. The sun and the sky naturally became color inspirations for all materials, from Corten steel panels to orange and blue tinted glass with gradient-like transitions throughout the exterior walls. These materials blend in with all the natural landscaping features along a walkway that runs through the parking lot, to the entrance of the building, and then back out to the central courtyard.
